Russell Martin has already explained exactly why Leicester City want Will Smallbone

Free agent midfielder Will Smallbone is set to join League One side Leicester City on a three-year contract. The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international will reunite with manager Russell Martin, having previously played 50 matches under him at Southampton during their successful 2023/24 promotion campaign.

Smallbone will become the fifth player to join Leicester after previously working with Martin, following the likes of Alex McCarthy and Liam Cullen. Martin previously praised Smallbone in May 2024 as selfless, hardworking, and increasingly aggressive out of possession.
