The Story in 60 Seconds

WBO middleweight champion Denzel Bentley is appealing to the sanctioning body to allow him a voluntary title defense instead of facing mandatory challenger Yoenli Hernandez. Despite the WBO previously ordering the mandatory fight and holding a purse-bid hearing, a hearing regarding Bentley's appeal is scheduled to take place next week.

Warriors Boxing previously won the purse bid for the Hernandez fight with a minimum offer of $200,000. If the WBO grievance committee rules against Bentley, the expectation is that the Londoner will vacate his title rather than face the Cuban challenger for the purse offered.
