England striker Ivan Toney has pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm during a hearing at Westminster magistrates court. The 30-year-old Al-Ahli forward is accused of head-butting and punching Saber Da Silva at 100 Wardour Street in Soho on December 6 last year, reportedly leaving the complainant with injuries to his nose and fingers.

Prosecutor Tom Heslop stated that an exchange of words led to the altercation. Toney chose to have his trial heard before a judge and jury at Southwark crown court. District Judge Briony Clarke released him on unconditional bail ahead of the trial.
