Nikola Topic’s latest setback shouldn’t stop Thunder from opening a much-needed door

G.C. Bellchamber of Thunderous Intentions argues that Nikola Topic should receive a significant rotation opportunity with the Oklahoma City Thunder despite entering training camp limited after offseason back surgery. Bellchamber contends that Oklahoma City requires a dependable on-ball distributor to support superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and maintain offensive flow throughout the 2026-27 season.

Topic previously missed his rookie year with a torn ACL and had limited action last season during treatment for testicular cancer. However, he impressed in 13 G-League appearances for the Oklahoma City Blue, averaging 18.4 points and 7.8 assists while shooting 46.5% from three-point range.
