The 22-year-old Luneau is expected to have a large role on the team's revamped D-corps, despite having played just 14 career NHL games.

The Anaheim Ducks have signed 22-year-old defenseman Tristan Luneau to a six-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday. According to a team source, the deal carries an average annual value of $7.2 million. Luneau has appeared in only 14 NHL games since being drafted in 2022, spending most of the past two seasons developing with the AHL's San Diego Gulls.
Anaheim general manager Pat Verbeek described securing Luneau long term as a priority for the team's top-four defense group. The extension comes as the Ducks shift strategy to sign young talent early, following high-priced summer deals for restricted free agents Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, and Pavel Mintyukov.
