SALT LAKE CITY — The rate at which Blackhawks rookie Roman Kantserov has learned English over the past couple years has amazed everyone.By chatting with two Americans on his Russian team, watching American movies and simply dedicating himself to it…

Chicago Blackhawks rookies Roman Kantserov and Anton Frondell are assisting each other in mastering English hockey terminology and team routines during the early stages of their NHL careers. Although both players speak conversational English, navigating loud rink environments, daily travel logistics, and coach Jeff Blashill's specific drill instructions has presented unique communication challenges for the Russian and Swedish youngsters.
Blashill praised the duo for actively asking questions and learning quickly during training camp and the opening road trip. Teammates Patrick Kane and Ryan Donato also commended their eager approach and communication skills, while Kantserov revealed he frequently leans on Frondell, Nick Lardis, and fellow Russian speaker Artyom Levshunov to decipher practice instructions.
