During those seasons, the Pirates won 88 and 98 games respectively, only to be shut out in single-elimination Wild Card games. Pittsburgh was routed 8-0 by Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants in 2014, followed by a 4-0 defeat against Jake Arrieta and the Chicago Cubs in 2015.
