Welcome back to another edition of NHL Rumours from the crew at Last Word on Hockey. The puck has been dropped, and the 2026-27 regular season is now underway. However, that doesn't mean that the rumours will stop. If anything…

According to reporter Frank Seravalli, the Edmonton Oilers have shown serious interest in acquiring Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach. The Oilers reportedly have a major need for a right-shot center, with rookie Owen Michaels being the only other right-shot center currently on their roster.
Dach signed a one-year contract with Montreal this offseason and is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. The move would represent a homecoming for Dach, who grew up near Edmonton and whose younger brother, Colton Dach, is already on the Oilers' roster.
