The Story in 60 Seconds

Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain captured the Asian Games gold medal in the women's 75kg category on her 29th birthday. She defeated China's Ziyi Bao by a unanimous 5-0 decision in Japan, ending India's 12-year wait for a women's Asian Games boxing champion. Borgohain became only the second Indian woman to achieve continental boxing gold after MC Mary Kom in 2014.

The victory capped a difficult turnaround for Borgohain, who revealed she had contemplated quitting boxing after leaving the Paris Olympics without a medal. Following a year-long break and a disappointing silver medal at the Commonwealth Games, she rebounded to secure gold by winning every round on the judges' scorecards in the final.
