Jannik Vestergaard has announced his retirement from football after leaving Leicester City

Former Leicester City defender Jannik Vestergaard has announced his retirement from professional football. The Danish center-back had been a free agent after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract at the King Power Stadium during the summer. Despite recent links with German side Hamburg, Vestergaard confirmed his decision to Danish outlet Politiken, citing a lack of motivation to continue playing.
Vestergaard joined Leicester City in 2021 from Southampton for approximately £15 million, making 118 appearances and scoring five goals during his tenure. He also earned 59 caps for Denmark before retiring from international duty, having previously played for German clubs Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen, and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
