Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes is being linked with a potential trade for a star St. Louis Blues forward.

NHL journalist Marco D'Amico reported that the Montreal Canadiens could target St. Louis Blues forward Dalibor Dvorsky to address their need for a second-line center. With general manager Kent Hughes seeking forward help, D'Amico suggested Dvorsky could serve as a trade chip for St. Louis following their offseason acquisition of center Mason McTavish. Dvorsky also shares existing chemistry with Montreal forward Juraj Slafkovsky from their time with the Slovakia national team.
A potential permanent trade would likely require Montreal to offer defensive depth, as St. Louis may prioritize blue-line upgrades. The Canadiens currently have a surplus of defensemen, including prospect Adam Engstrom, who could be utilized in discussions. Dvorsky, selected 10th overall in 2023, remains under team control through the 2027-28 season on a three-year, $5.2 million contract.
