Newcastle United's brand of football under their new coach has split opinion - but it's early days

Pundit Tim Sherwood stated he is not convinced by Newcastle United under new head coach Matthias Jaissle, warning that the team's defensive vulnerability cannot continue. Jaissle took over midway through pre-season following Eddie Howe's unexpected departure, earning eight points from his first five Premier League games despite Newcastle conceding a league-high 97 shots on goal.
Sherwood expressed concern over Newcastle's open style and reliance on goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, rating Leeds United ahead of them for European qualification. Jaissle acknowledged that implementing his tactical principles has been tougher than expected, noting there remains significant room for improvement as senior players like Joelinton and Dan Burn return.
