The Seattle Mariners have claimed first baseman Michael Toglia off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds, according to a team announcement. Toglia had been on Cincinnati's 60-day injured list since early September after suffering a dislocated shoulder that required season-ending surgery.
Prior to his big-league call-up in mid-August, Toglia hit 22 home runs with a .273/.373/.547 slash line in Triple-A Louisville. A former first-round pick with the Colorado Rockies, the switch-hitter previously hit 25 home runs in 2024 but has struggled with high strikeout rates throughout his major league career.
