Milwaukee Brewers infielder Joey Ortiz has been battling knee and abdomen injuries, but thankfully on Friday afternoon Pat Murphy took an optimistic tone when discussing his third baseman's postseason roster status.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy announced that infielder Joey Ortiz is expected to be available for the NLDS roster against the San Diego Padres. Ortiz exited the final regular-season series with a knee bruise and abdominal inflammation, missing the last two games. Murphy stated on Friday afternoon that Ortiz's recovery is progressing well and the team plans on having him ready for the postseason opener.
Ortiz emerged as a crucial offensive contributor in the second half of the 2026 season, recording an .883 OPS after July 1. With the Padres naming left-hander Robbie Ray as their Game 1 starter, Ortiz is anticipated to start at third base on Saturday night.
