Larkin requested a trade from the Red Wings after 11 NHL seasons with the club.

Detroit Red Wings fans booed former captain Dylan Larkin during introductions at the team's regular-season home opener on Friday night. Larkin, who did not play in the game due to an upper-body injury, waved to the crowd as attendees heckled him. The hostile reaction followed Larkin's offseason trade request submitted to the organization in June.
The 30-year-old center was stripped of the captaincy last month after six seasons wearing the "C." Larkin is under contract through the 2030-31 season at an $8.7 million annual cap hit and reportedly listed the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights as preferred trade destinations.
