Portland Trail Blazers head coach Micah Nori reportedly does not believe starting Damian Lillard and Ja Morant together in the backcourt makes sense. According to a report by Jason Quick of The Athletic, fellow Blazers guard Jrue Holiday is considered a better fit to start, meaning either Lillard or Morant would need to come off the bench.
Quick notes that managing player egos and benching either multi-time All-Star could present a delicate challenge for Nori, a rookie head coach on a one-year deal. Morant was acquired via trade from the Memphis Grizzlies earlier this offseason, while the 36-year-old Lillard is returning from an Achilles tear.
