While the situation between the Detroit Pistons and Jalen Duren is seemingly over, that doesn't mean the Sacramento Kings are done.

Jalen Duren has signed a fully guaranteed five-year, $200 million contract extension with the Detroit Pistons, ending contentious negotiations and temporarily stalling the Sacramento Kings' pursuit of the center. The agreement was reached after Detroit removed a proposed weight clause from the deal, preventing Duren from potentially reaching unrestricted free agency in 2027.
Writer Ian Goodwillie suggests the Kings could still pursue Duren via trade, noting front office executive Scott Perry has worked to build ties with him. However, the report notes Detroit previously rejected trade interest involving Domantas Sabonis, allowing Sacramento additional time to evaluate its long-term frontcourt plans.
