Seattle Mariners Claim Former Local Top Prospect Off Waivers

The Seattle Mariners have claimed first baseman Michael Toglia off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds. Toglia, a Washington native who attended high school in Gig Harbor, was originally selected in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies.

Toglia holds a career .198 batting average with 42 home runs across 290 Major League games. He is out of minor league options and will provide depth behind Josh Naylor, though Seattle must keep him on the roster or designate him for assignment.
