The last thing the St. Louis Blues wanted to see to open the 2026-27 season was the injury bug. Not even two periods into the new season, and it has bitten.
St. Louis Blues forward Alexey Toropchenko suffered an injury during Friday's season opener against the Dallas Stars and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. Toropchenko required assistance off the ice in the second period after absorbing a check behind the Blues' net from Stars defenseman Lian Bichsel, noticeably favoring his elbow as he departed.
The Blues finished the game with 11 forwards ahead of Saturday's matchup against the Colorado Avalanche. If Toropchenko misses additional time, potential roster replacements include forwards Zach Dean, Dillon Dube, or American Hockey League call-ups Nathan Walker and Dylan Peterson, adding to existing injuries to Logan Mailloux and Tyler Tucker.
