St. Louis Blues forward Alexey Toropchenko suffered a shoulder injury during the second period of the season opener against Dallas. Toropchenko required assistance off the ice after being checked along the boards and was seen hunched over on the bench before heading down the tunnel. He is not expected to return to the game.
Following Toropchenko's exit, a fight broke out between Jake Neighbours and Artur Hyry, resulting in five-minute penalties for each. At the time of the injury, St. Louis held a 1-0 lead courtesy of a goal from Mason McTavish. Toropchenko was skating on the fourth line alongside Pius Suter and Ross Johnston, while also serving on the primary penalty kill unit.
