Wolves made a big call in keeping Fer Lopez this summer and so far he is proving exactly why they did so and how big a asset he could be.

The72's Charlie Hodgson argues that Wolverhampton Wanderers' decision to retain attacker Fer Lopez has proved to be a stroke of genius. Wolves signed the 22-year-old from Celta Vigo for £20m in June 2025 before loaning him back in January after a difficult debut Premier League season. After Wolves rejected summer interest and demanded £40m, Lopez has starred in the Championship under manager Cesar Peixoto.
Hodgson highlights that Lopez has started all seven Championship matches this season, tallying four goals and two assists. His contributions include a brace in a 3-1 win at Preston, a goal against Birmingham, and the derby winner against West Bromwich Albion, establishing him as Wolves' primary attacking threat.
