Middlesbrough signed Sebastian Berhalter in a seriously impressive deal. Boro's swoop will go down as one of the bargains of the summer.

The72's James Ray argues that Middlesbrough's signing of midfielder Sebastian Berhalter for an up-front fee of £900,000 will go down as the Championship's bargain of the summer 2026 transfer window. The 25-year-old American international was acquired from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps on a permanent deal that could potentially rise to £1.5m.
Berhalter has made an immediate impact under manager Kim Hellberg, recording four goal contributions in his first 10 games, including two goals in a 4-3 victory over Norwich City. Ray notes that Berhalter's arrival and midfield partnership with Aidan Morris have effectively helped fill the void left by Hayden Hackney's departure.
