New Jersey Devils defenseman Seamus Casey will miss 8-10 weeks after undergoing knee surgery, head coach Sheldon Keefe announced on Friday. Keefe revealed that Casey suffered the injury during a preseason contest, sidelining the blueliner potentially into December.
Casey missed New Jersey's 3-2 overtime season-opening victory against the Philadelphia Flyers, leading the team to deploy Declan Chisholm on the third defensive pairing. Currently in the final season of his three-year contract, Casey is projected to return between late November and early December.
