The Washington Wizards came under public scrutiny after their 21-year-old player, Bub Carrington, openly admitted that the team had told its players to hold back on the court, which can be interpreted as a confession of tanking.
The Washington Wizards and guard Bub Carrington are reportedly not expected to face NBA discipline despite Carrington making public comments suggesting the team intentionally tanked. In an interview with WUSA9, Carrington claimed players were held back to improve draft odds for AJ Dybantsa, leading to public criticism and allegations of anti-competitive play.
According to The Athletic's Sam Amick, the league does not plan to investigate or penalize the team or player. Fadeaway World expressed surprise over the reported lack of an investigation, pointing out that commissioner Adam Silver recently issued substantial fines to other franchises, including the Utah Jazz, for tanking-related behavior.
