The Washington Wizards came under public scrutiny after their 21-year-old player, Bub Carrington, openly admitted that the team had told its players to hold back on the court, which can be interpreted as a confession of tanking.
The NBA will reportedly not discipline Washington Wizards guard Bub Carrington or the franchise following his public comments about tanking, according to The Athletic's Sam Amick. In an interview with WUSA9, the 21-year-old guard stated that players were held back on the court to improve their odds of drafting AJ Dybantsa in 2026.
Carrington claimed that restrictions have now been lifted and expressed optimism about the team's future playoff potential. Fadeaway World notes that the league previously penalized other teams for tanking and expresses surprise that the NBA apparently does not plan to investigate Carrington's remarks.
