A potential return would occur after the 2028 season.

Sydney Roosters star Mark Nawaqanitawase could return to the NRL after his upcoming rugby union stint in Japan. Nawaqanitawase's management reportedly met with Roosters chairman Nick Politis to discuss a potential return to the club once his rugby contract concludes at the end of 2028. The 25-year-old winger has strongly considered returning to rugby league in the future.
Nawaqanitawase is set to play his final NRL game before his departure in Sunday's Grand Final against the Newcastle Knights. He has signed a two-year deal reportedly worth around $1.4 million annually with the Saitama Wild Knights.
