THERE’S a big Sunday reunion in store for Maria Francis-Jones.
Wrexham defender Maria Francis-Jones is preparing to face her former club, The New Saints, in a top-of-the-table Adran Premier showdown on Sunday. Francis-Jones, who moved to Wrexham in February and previously won the Adran Trophy and league title, noted that the defending champions face heightened pressure as rivals target them this season. Both Wrexham and The New Saints enter the contest with perfect records, each winning their first four league games.
Jenny Sugarman's Wrexham side currently leads the standings on goal difference following an 8-1 win against Briton Ferry Llansawel, where Natasha Thomas and Katie Barker netted hat-tricks. Francis-Jones highlighted Wrexham's squad depth, with multiple players contributing to their 23 goals this campaign. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Liz Craven recently celebrated her 50th appearance for Wrexham, and The New Saints enter following a 4-3 victory over Swansea City sealed by a late Fiona Barry goal.
