The Diamondbacks finished the season at 86-76 but just barely missed the playoffs via the Phillies’ win over the Rays on the final day of the regular season. They’ll enter the offseason looking to upgrade and get back to October…

Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen announced that the team will prioritize adding left-handed bats this offseason to improve against right-handed pitching. After finishing the season at 86-76 and narrowly missing the postseason, Hazen noted that potential upgrades are likely targeted at first base and designated hitter. Manager Torey Lovullo will remain in place after being retained for at least two more seasons.
Arizona ranked fourth-worst across Major League Baseball against right-handed pitchers with a 92 wRC+, while their first basemen and designated hitters posted 74 and 77 wRC+, respectively. The front office faces financial constraints as owner Ken Kendrick stated payroll will be reduced for 2027, though Zac Gallen and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. are coming off the books.
