Marte also didn't show up at Fenway Park for a game during a three-game series from Aug. 17-19 without informing Lovullo or the front office that he would be missing.

Arizona Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick and manager Torey Lovullo have publicly criticized second baseman Ketel Marte following an unexcused absence during an August series against the Boston Red Sox. Lovullo, who recently signed a two-year extension, stated he will no longer shield Marte from accountability. Kendrick called Marte's actions "unfortunate acts of immaturity" that must stop if he remains with the organization.
The August incident was Marte's fourth unexcused absence in four years, leading to a temporary 10-day injured list placement before his return on August 31. The 32-year-old later apologized, citing physical pain and frustration. Under contract through 2031, Marte holds 10-5 rights allowing him to veto any prospective trade.
