Against an Australia attack that has not yet hit peak intensity, Neil Brand stroked a sparkling 152 in the two-day tour match

Former South Africa captain Neil Brand scored 152 to lead the Cricket South Africa Invitational XI to 7-318 on day one against Australia in Potchefstroom. The two-day warm-up fixture served as Australia's primary red-ball preparation ahead of the upcoming three-Test series in Durban. Facing Australia's front-line attack, Brand struck five sixes before falling to allrounder Beau Webster on the final ball of the day.
Australia rotated through 11 different bowlers on a flat surface, with Nathan Lyon, Matthew Kuhnemann, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Cooper Connolly, and Michael Neser among the wicket-takers. Cameron Green remained sidelined with an abdominal strain, while Matthew Renshaw sat out after taking a blow to his hand during the preceding ODI series.
