Now with the Los Angeles Lakers, Collin Sexton plans to leverage the added spotlight to prove his critics wrong about his defense.

New Los Angeles Lakers guard Collin Sexton is focusing heavily on improving his defense during the team's ongoing training camp. Often labeled a defensive liability across his eight NBA seasons, the 27-year-old revealed that he aims to leverage the Lakers' spotlight to overcome his past shortcomings and become a disruptive force on the floor.
Sexton shared that he has been studying game film of elite defensive guards Marcus Smart and former Lakers champion Avery Bradley to model their physical ball pressure. Head coach JJ Redick confirmed that the Lakers are emphasizing defensive principles throughout training camp, with fellow guard Quentin Grimes also working to boost his defensive impact.
