Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen exited Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss against the Carolina Hurricanes with an undisclosed injury. After blocking a shot with his left hand in the second period, Ristolainen briefly returned for a 37-second shift in the third before leaving permanently. He recorded two blocked shots and a hit in 14:26 of ice time prior to his departure.
The Flyers announced that Ristolainen will be re-evaluated on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury and his availability for the upcoming three-game road trip. Nick Seeler stepped into Ristolainen's role alongside Travis Sanheim, while Simon Benoit stands as a potential replacement if Ristolainen misses extended time.
