India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of action for at least three to four weeks after suffering a fresh injury setback. Pandya experienced discomfort in his right calf during a match simulation on September 19, with subsequent scans revealing a symptomatic right tibial bone stress response. While no structural fracture was found, his rehabilitation program at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru has been delayed.
Pandya has been advised to undergo six to eight weeks of medical treatment and gradual rehabilitation. Consequently, he will miss the India A series against Australia A starting October 6 in Puducherry and is expected to miss India's tour of New Zealand beginning October 22. Former captain Sourav Ganguly highlighted Pandya's critical importance as a seam-bowling all-rounder for India's upcoming campaigns.
