The Colorado Avalanche defeated the St. Louis Blues 6-1 to start the NHL season 2-0. Colorado established dominant control early, scoring two goals in the first period and four more in the second to build a commanding 6-0 lead.
Martin Necas led the Avalanche offense with two goals and an assist, while Cale Makar, Josh Manson, Artturi Lehkonen, and Nic Roy also scored. Goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood saved 25 of 26 shots, allowing only a third-period goal by St. Louis forward Dalibor Dvorsky.
