The Story in 60 Seconds

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer announced that cornerbacks Caelen Carson and Ameer Speed will compete for playing time opposite newly acquired starter Joey Porter Jr. The competition comes as starter Shavon Revel Jr. works back from knee and ankle injuries sustained in a 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. While Revel practiced fully Friday, Dallas is preparing options for Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans.

The Cowboys acquired Porter from the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the week in exchange for two future draft picks. With Cobie Durant sidelined by a hamstring issue and safeties Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke placed on injured reserve, defensive coordinator Christian Parker indicated that weekly on-field performances will dictate the defensive lineup.
