India's wicketkeeper batter reflects on the team's 19-run victory over Pakistan in the Asian Games final.
Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson reflected on India retaining their Asian Games men's cricket gold medal following a 19-run victory over Pakistan in the final on October 3 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. India batted first after winning the toss and posted 211 for 6, while Pakistan finished their chase at 192 for 6.
Samson highlighted that the team did not get the gold on a platter, noting that fielding an experienced primary squad proved crucial to handling pressure. Half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma set up India's total, allowing their bowlers to defend the score despite Pakistan's competitive response.
