The Washington Capitals fell to Tampa Bay Saturday night 3-1 and lost defense Matt Roy to injury

The Washington Capitals suffered a 3-1 defeat against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night, dropping their second game of the regular season. Along with the loss, Capitals defenseman Matt Roy left the contest in the third period after sustaining a lower-body injury. Washington goaltender Charlie Lindgren made 27 saves on 29 shots, with Tampa Bay securing their win via a late empty-net goal.
The Capitals struggled offensively against Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy and went scoreless across two power-play opportunities. Washington also faced challenges at the faceoff circle, winning just 37.5 percent of their draws throughout the night. The game also featured a second-period fight between Capitals defenseman Vincent Desharnais and Lightning defenseman Emil Lilleberg.
