Perhaps it’s not ‘goodbye’, but rather, ‘see you later’. Canada and CF Montréal midfielder Samuel Piette took to the Stade Saputo pitch on Saturday to win his 70th cap for country as Les Rouges swept past Peru, 2-0 — but…

Canada head coach Jesse Marsch confirmed that midfielder Samuel Piette remains on his radar following a celebration match in Montreal. Piette earned his 70th international cap after coming on as a substitute during Canada's 2-0 victory over Peru at Stade Saputo on Saturday. While the match honored Piette's long-standing national team career, both the player and Marsch stopped short of announcing his international retirement.
Piette entered the match in the 66th minute, taking the captain's armband from Stephen Eustáquio. Forward Jacob Shaffelburg scored both goals for Canada, while Marsch noted the team specifically aimed to show appreciation to Piette in front of his home fans.
