Onyeka Okongwu deserves much-needed respect entering seventh season

Writer Antwane Willis argues that Atlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu deserves far more respect from fans as he heads into his seventh NBA season. Despite facing scrutiny over his 6-foot-9 stature, Okongwu has continually developed his game and posted career-high numbers across the board during a 74-game campaign in the 2025-26 season, including shooting 37.6% from three-point range.

Willis highlights Okongwu's fit within Atlanta's small-ball system alongside frontcourt teammate Jalen Johnson. Although trade rumors and size mismatches against conference rivals persist, the author contends Okongwu's steady adaptability makes him vital to the team's playoff aspirations.
