Despite a prolonged negotiation that appeared to turn sour at times, Jalen Duren said he is relieved and excited to return to Detroit.

Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren signed a five-year, $200 million fully guaranteed contract extension following a four-month negotiation standoff. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday alongside president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon, Duren expressed excitement to return to Detroit and clarified that he hopes to remain with the franchise for the rest of his career.
The 22-year-old missed media day and the start of training camp before reaching the agreement. Coming off an All-NBA third-team selection during the regular season, Duren noted that a humbling postseason struggle motivated him to focus on improving his craft ahead of the upcoming year.
