The Story in 60 Seconds

Afghanistan have dropped 41-year-old allrounder Mohammad Nabi from their T20I side and excluded batter Darwish Rasooli from both ODI and T20I squads for their upcoming multi-format season in the UAE. The campaign begins on October 9 with a one-off Test against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi, marking Rahmat Shah's first assignment as full-time Test captain.

While Nabi remains in the ODI squad, star players Rashid Khan and Ibrahim Zadran will continue to sit out Test matches following medical advice. Fast bowler Abdullah Tarakhail earned his first T20I call-up, and left-arm spinner Zia-ur-Rehman returned to the Test squad after a 14-month injury layoff.
