The Ottawa Senators have recalled defenseman Jorian Donovan from their AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators. The transaction brings Ottawa's active roster to the maximum limit of 23 players. Donovan's promotion serves to reinforce the team's defensive depth following news that star blueliner Jake Sanderson will miss the team's next few games while undergoing evaluation for an injury.
Donovan, a 22-year-old former fifth-round draft pick, recorded 21 points in 61 AHL games last season and appeared in two NHL contests. While defenseman Cameron Crotty is also an option to enter the lineup, Donovan provides a natural left-shot alternative as Ottawa manages injuries to both Sanderson and veteran Artem Zub.
