Sunderland have confirmed the departure of Tom Burwell on Monday

Sunderland AFC have announced the departure of interim Chief Executive Officer Tom Burwell with immediate effect. Owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus will step up his day-to-day involvement by assuming the role of executive chairman, working directly alongside the senior management team to lead the Premier League club.
Burwell, who also vacates his position on the club's board, exits just months after replacing David Bruce. His brief tenure coincided with off-pitch friction, including ticketing problems, a disputed membership rollout, and a collapsed shirt sponsorship agreement with Visit Ghana.
