Mumbai senior men's chief selector Rajesh Pawar has explained why Suryakumar Yadav and Shardul Thakur were left out of Mumbai's initial Ranji Trophy squad. The squad, announced for the first two matches of the season, features Siddhesh Lad as captain and Ayush Mhatre as vice-captain, with the selection panel prioritizing young talent.
Pawar clarified that Thakur was omitted due to a slight fracture in his right middle finger. Meanwhile, Yadav was excluded because he has not featured in red-ball cricket for an extended period, though he remains in contention to return after gaining match practice.
