Southampton v Portsmouth: Early team and injury news as 10 out and 4 doubts for south-coast derby

Southampton and Portsmouth are preparing to meet on Sunday in the first south-coast derby of the season. John Mousinho's Portsmouth will aim for their first victory at St Mary's in 16 years following a recent 2-0 friendly win over Chelsea. Meanwhile, Southampton sit 13th in the Championship table under head coach Tonda Eckert, whose future remains uncertain pending an FA verdict regarding a spying controversy.

Both squads face selection issues heading into the rivalry fixture, with multiple players sidelined or doubtful. Brentford loanee Benjy Arthur is ruled out for up to three months due to a back stress fracture, while Portsmouth left-back Connor Ogilvie remains out with a knee injury. However, Southampton midfielder Caspar Jander is in contention to make his return from a hamstring problem.
