Key Things to Know

Kevin Fiala resumed individual skating while Mats Zuccarello took a maintenance day ahead of Tuesday's game.
Fiala is progressing toward potentially rejoining team practices in a non-contact capacity by mid-October.
Head coach Peter Laviolette reported no long-term concerns regarding Zuccarello's absence from practice.

The Story in 60 Seconds

Los Angeles Kings forward Kevin Fiala returned to the ice for individual work with performance staff on Monday, while Mats Zuccarello missed practice for a maintenance day. Head coach Peter Laviolette confirmed Fiala is progressing along his recovery timeline, which aims for a potential return to group practice in mid-October and a possible game return by early November. The Kings are preparing for their home opener against the Florida Panthers.

Laviolette downplayed concern regarding the 39-year-old Zuccarello, describing the absence as standard rest following past injury issues. The coaching staff is still finalizing the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against Florida, having found success using an 11-forward, seven-defensemen structure in their previous game against the San Jose Sharks.
