The Celtic Fans Collective has responded following Celtic's late-night statement that severed official recognition of the group after a protest against principal shareholder Dermot Desmond. The demonstration took place on Saturday at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews. The Collective contested Celtic's depiction of events, stating that the demonstration was initiated by member supporters' clubs rather than the central committee, which subsequently chose to back the participants.
The Collective stated that the protest could have potentially been postponed had the Celtic board responded constructively to previous discussions. The group described the demonstration as peaceful and pledged to defend any supporters who face disciplinary action or club sanctions as tensions continue to mount ahead of the forthcoming Annual General Meeting.
