The Story in 60 Seconds

Los Angeles Clippers guard Max Strus suffered a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot during the team's preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors. Strus exited the game just five minutes in and is scheduled to be reevaluated in four weeks. As a result, the 30-year-old guard will miss the Clippers' regular-season opening game against the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 21.

Strus, who was acquired in an offseason five-team trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers, adds to Los Angeles' growing early-season injury concerns. The Clippers will also be without newly acquired forward Brandon Ingram to start the 2026-27 campaign, as Ingram recovers from surgery on a partially torn Achilles tendon and a right heel injury.
