At the Blackhawks' home opener Tuesday, one particular face will be both new and old. Here's how Kane became a Blackhawk again.

Patrick Kane officially decided to rejoin the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent following a weeks-long process during the summer. Kane had multiple suitors after entering unrestricted free agency on July 1, weighing interest from the Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings before choosing Chicago. Blackhawks chairman Danny Wirtz and general manager Kyle Davidson actively recruited the veteran forward back to the franchise where he previously won three Stanley Cups.
Kane finalized his decision on July 22, prompting a significant commercial boost for Chicago that included a 15 percent rise in new season-ticket memberships. Having started the regular season on the road, Kane is set to make his return to the United Center ice in front of Chicago fans for the team's home opener.
