Anthony Davis is getting ready for his first full season with the Washington Wizards, but serious questions are already emerging about whether the 10-time All-Star will remain in Washington beyond the February trade deadline.
Anthony Davis' long-term future with the Washington Wizards is in question ahead of his first full season with the team. According to The Athletic's David Aldridge and Josh Robbins, there is almost no chance the Wizards will offer Davis the maximum contract extension he seeks, creating the possibility of a move before the February trade deadline.
Davis holds a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28 and could qualify for a four-year extension worth roughly $276 million if declined. However, Washington is wary of financial strain and Davis' age and injury history, having also recently signed Trae Young to a four-year, $213 million contract.
